Keith Herriman, LLP

Keith joined Christian Family Services as a limited licensed psychologist in 2015.  He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Wayne State University and then completed a master's degree in Counseling Psychology at Moody Theological Seminary.

Keith specializes in treating boys ranging from preadolescence through young adulthood. They engage in open and honest conversations with a therapist and can express their thoughts and feelings in a comfortable environment.

He also enjoys working with adult men and women, including couples, on a variety of mental health issues such as: ADHD and OCD; depression; anxiety; interpersonal relationship conflict; dealing with self-destructive loved ones; workplace conflict; boundaries in relationships; parenting issues; video game and other electronic-related problems.

Keith’s approach to therapy is from a cognitive-behavioral (CBT) perspective, concerned with treating the individual, both mind and body, focusing on identifying unhealthy thoughts and behaviors and replacing them with healthy thoughts and behaviors. CBT is also useful in couples counseling and family therapy.

Rev. Dr. Clayton Smith, MDiv, DMin

Dr. Clayton Smith is an ordained minister as well as a pastoral counselor. He joined the counseling staff at Christian Family Services in 2015. Dr. Smith earned a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice at Wayne State University and a master of divinity degree from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition, he holds a doctorate in ministry with a concentration in congregational family care from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dr. Smith is passionate about helping pastors and their families as they serve in ministry. He enjoys preparing couples for marriage and helping married couples with their relationships.

Dr. Smith views himself as a humble therapist who is willing to listen and genuinely interested in helping a client's problems. Failure to seek help at the onset of emotional problems is one of the causes of mental illness today, he says, and removing the stigma surrounding mental health is vital to changing perceptions.
