Adoption Services

There are more than eight million couples in the United States today who are of child-bearing age but who are unable to conceive and bear children naturally. Many of these are Christian couples who have the qualities necessary to provide the best physical, emotional, and spiritual environment possible for a child. With this in mind, and with the large number of abortions in our country today (almost 1.6 million annually), adoption can be a positive alternative for young women who face a crisis pregnancy and at the same time offer hope to infertile Christian couples. Since 1958 Christian Family Services has been a licensed child placing agency in the State of Michigan and offers women with unplanned pregnancies, as well as potential adoptive parents, somewhere to turn. Through the years our highly qualified staff has placed over 1000 infants and children in loving Christian homes through our adoption program. Click on any of these questions to jump down to the portion of this page that provides an appropriate answer to the question posed:

What is the purpose of the adoption process?

The primary purpose of the adoption process is to ensure the best possible arrangement for both the child and new parents. We place children in Christian homes where they will hear daily of Jesus Christ and be raised in a stable and nurturing environment rich in His love.

What type of adoption services are provided by CFS?

Services provided during the adoption process include a thorough homestudy evaluation of the couple to help them assess their relationship with one another and their own personal strengths and weaknesses. Adoption issues and attitudes are explored and counseling is available as needed. There is required reading and other recommended experiences for our couples to prepare them mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for the placement of a child into their home. The homestudy information is held in strict confidence and is intended to meet State requirements as well as to help couples in their interpersonal growth.

A warm environment and an open line of communication are established with our couples during the adoption process to help reduce some of the anxiety associated with becoming new parents and to deal with the wait that is involved in this process.
