Pregnancy Counseling

The birth of a baby should be a time of hope and joy. But when a pregnancy is unplanned it often means anxiety and despair. For women who find themselves in this dilemma, Christian Family Services offers free unplanned pregnancy counseling.

We specialize in helping women of all ages who are pregnant and want a safe, supportive, and confidential place to talk through their options.

Adoption Planning

When a woman decides that adoption is the best option, CFS can assist them through the legal and emotional process. Our staff helps women to choose and meet the family, prepare for the birth and release, and adjust to life afterwards. We provide counseling and all services associated with an adoption at no cost to the birth family.

Post-Adoption Counseling

Because there is loss involved which does not easily or quickly go away, we offer free counseling to birth families who have placed children through CFS for as long as they feel they need it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is counseling really necessary?

Our social workers are trained professionals who provide a supportive environment and can help you sort through your emotions to better enable you to make the right decisions for you and your child. Our social workers are Christians who respect you and want to help in any way they can.

What are my options?

We believe adoption can be a positive alternative for a woman facing an unplanned pregnancy. However, we understand that adoption is not the right choice for everyone. Your social worker will help you sort through your feelings and the long-term consequences of your decision, and ultimately help you determine what is best for you and your child. If you choose an adoption plan, our adoption specialists can guide you through the process. If you choose a parenting plan, we will give you referrals to helpful community resources.

Can you help with my medical costs or housing?

Medical insurance or public assistance will usually pay your medical bills, but if this is not available to you, CFS may be able to help with your expenses. If you need a place to live until your baby is born, we can refer you to a family or group home.

Who are the adoptive parents?

We have very high standards for our adoptive parents, and they are thoroughly screened before being approved. You deserve the peace of mind which comes from knowing your baby is being placed in a solid family of your choosing, in an environment which is able to meet all the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of your child. We provide profiles of our prospective adoptive parents, and you choose the family that best fits the needs of both you and your child. If you choose to do so, you will have the opportunity to meet the potential adoptive parents.

What will my child know about me?

Depending on your comfort level, you can choose how much information to give about yourself to the adoptive parents. Your child’s adoptive family will then have the opportunity to tell your child about you as he/she grows up. You are also free to write letters or send pictures through CFS to your child and the adoptive parents, and share special information about yourself that you want him/her to know.
What choices do I have with an adoption plan?

We will provide profiles of our prospective adoptive parents and you can choose the family that best fits the needs of both you and your child. In most cases it is possible to meet the potential adoptive parents.
